University of York Students' Union
The University of York Students' Union (York SU) is a not-for-profit charitable organisation which is separate to the University. Run for, with and by students, it is led by a team of elected full-time Sabbatical Officers (Sabbs), all of whom are York students or recent graduates. Every student that studies here automatically becomes a member of the union. Take a look at the York SU community networks and societies that you can get involved with.
Academic Representation
Academic representation is a partnership between the University of York Students' Union and University departments. Academic Reps (or student reps) aim to ensure that students contribute directly to the processes of reviewing, maintaining and enhancing the quality of the academic experience at York. You can go to academic reps with any feedback about best practice, concerns or suggestions about how the department or aspects of your programme are run. For more information, visit the University of York Students' Union Academic Reps webpage.
You can find out who your Academic Rep is by looking at our Student Representative Directory.
Student Voice
The University welcomes constructive feedback from students on any aspect of course provision. Student feedback forms an important part of our quality management processes. Students are given several opportunities to provide feedback on their experience of the degree programme, which may include module evaluation, end of programme evaluation, and student representation. This, along with other mechanisms such as tutor evaluations, programme reviews, and department evaluations, allows for the resolution of problems. These evaluations also feed into future developments, such as curriculum design and course provision.
Module evaluations are collected anonymously via the survey tool Qualtrics. You will be emailed a link to the module evaluation towards the end of each module you study. You can view the module feedback summaries for your programme via the following links:
Wentworth Graduate College
Wentworth Graduate College is the University of York's only purely postgraduate college. Wentworth has over 8,000 college members, the majority of whom live off-campus. If you have studied at York before, you will continue to be a member of your previous college, but can still enjoy what Wentworth has to offer.
Sign up to the Wentworth Graduate Digest by filling in this short form. The newsletter is sent once a week and is a fantastic way to be part of the wider community, and maximise what you can gain from your time at York.

There are two career development programmes available for York Online students:
- The York Award is a formal award of the University that demonstrates to employers that you have taken a proactive approach to life at university, and recognises personal and professional development within and outside your programme of study.
- York Strengths allows you to recognise and develop your professional skills further, and reflect on how to use them in practice. You can also complete a personalised skills and strengths assessment. York Online students can email york-strengths@york.ac.uk to get access.
