Financial wellbeing is having a sense of security and feeling that you have enough money to meet your needs. It's being in control of your day-to-day finances and having the financial freedom to make choices to enjoy life.

However, at some point in your life, you may become worried about finances. There is plenty of free support and information available and some employee benefits for University of York staff.

Money Advice Service

Money Advice Service gives free and impartial money advice and was set up by the government, they have useful budgeting planning tools as well as other money health checks

Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert

Martin Lewis (Money Saving Expert) shares many ideas and tips for saving money, understanding your consumer rights and highlighting many offers and discounts.

You can also find out more about economic abuse, which is a form of domestic abuse. It often involves controlling an individual's access to money, putting debt in their name, or limiting their access to work or education.

Free finance webinars by HSBC

HSBC offers free interactive webinars on a range of topics from managing debt and coping with the cost of living, to planning for retirement and a beginners guide to investment. The sessions are anonymous, but attendees can ask questions to the presenter. You don’t have to be a HSBC customer to take part, and there is no upselling of their products during these sessions.
