In an independent survey, York was ranked the fifth best university to work for in the country and 27th best employer overall.
The Financial Times Best Employers ranking lists 500 organisations with over 250 employees. The results are based on more than 200,000 anonymous evaluations gathered from 20,000 employees.
People were asked to give their opinions on statements about their current employer in areas including working conditions, pay, potential for development and company image.
Kiran Trehan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise, Partnerships and Engagement, said: “I’m very proud of this recognition, which reflects the dedication of our 5,000 members of staff to being a university for public good.
“Our close-knit, supportive community is more than a place for learning and research – it’s a force for positive change. The University of York is a place where people find new ways to make a meaningful impact, both locally and globally.
“Thank you to everyone at York for their inspirational work and commitment to our values and purpose. Your dedication, generosity of spirit and commitment to our shared purpose are what truly define York.”
