New podcast: go behind the scenes of health research at York
Posted on Thursday 27 November 2025
Join YTU staff Lucy Atha and Janine Heeley in The Research Room as they sit down with researchers to explore how their work is shaping the future of people’s health.
From revolutionary new medical devices to transformative educational programmes and vital research into mental health support, discover the projects that truly make a difference.
Created by Lucy and Janine, the podcast aims to demystify the complex world of research for a public audience. It lets listeners get to know the what, why, and how of a project.
"We're so excited to share the podcast with the public and showcase the fantastic work going on at YTU," said Lucy. "It's been so much fun to make... I can't wait for people to hear it."
Co-host Janine added that for staff, it offers a new way to engage with colleagues' work: "I love chatting to the researchers about their projects, finding out why they are doing the research and how they are doing it. It's a really fun and accessible way of learning about a subject."
Episodes are available now on all major platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube.
