Quiet areas and sensory spaces

News

We have launched a new set of webpages to help those needing to find and book quiet or sensory spaces on campus.

We understand that campus life can sometimes be overwhelming for members of our community. Because of this, we have launched a new set of webpages to help those needing to find and book quiet or sensory spaces on campus. The rooms are particularly crucial for students and staff who need a safe environment for self-regulation and to manage sensory input.

This new resource is a direct result of student feedback and collaboration, truly a student-led project, identifying and gathering information and guiding us on specific needs.

We now need your help to make campus even more accessible for everyone.

We hope to promote further spaces over time and we are looking to expand our list of quiet and sensory areas, which currently includes Sensory Retreat Rooms, Sensory study spaces, Wellbeing rooms, and more.

If your department or building has a space that is being used as a quiet space or sensory space which is not featured on our web pages, please get in touch by emailing student-communities@york.ac.uk. We want to grow this vital resource for our community, working together to ensure we offer a campus for all.
