Flexible building usage over the winter vacation
Posted on Tuesday 18 November 2025
Following the success of previous winter building closures, we will again be closing specific buildings during the winter 2025/26 vacation, as part of our efforts to reduce costs and lower our carbon footprint.
Buildings with significantly reduced occupancy during this period will either be fully closed or have restricted access. Previous closures have resulted in significant cost and carbon savings. While certain buildings will be closed, the campus will remain operational, with services and facilities still available.
During extended closure periods (such as the winter and Easter breaks), several hub buildings will remain open as alternative workspaces, including:
- Church Lane (Hub)
- The Professional Services Hub Offices within the Library
- Ron Cooke Hub (Heslington East Hub)
- Market Square
For more information on flexible building usage, including whether your building is affected, how to access buildings with limited operations during the closures, or how to book a desk in one of the several hubs open for working on campus during this period, please visit the flexible building usage web page.
