National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) is an opportunity to recognise the incredible contribution that postdocs make to research at York.

This year, NPAW is from Monday 15 to Friday 19 September.

During the week, departments will be celebrating their postdocs in a variety of ways.

You can nominate a postdoctoral colleague to thank them for their work.

Sarah Thompson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, celebrated the role that postdocs play: “Whether they’re conducting experiments in the lab, working with vulnerable communities, or helping design the technologies of the future, York postdocs are the engine of our research efforts.

"I would like to thank the whole postdoctoral community for their hard work, dedication and for making our community a vibrant and exciting place to undertake research."

From surviving to thriving

All postdoctoral staff are invited to attend a livestream of the NPAW event, ‘From surviving to thriving’, featuring a special performance from York’s very own Bioscience: the Musical team.

During the event NPAW's expert speaker will share strategies for taking control of your development, followed by a panel discussion with former postdocs who have carved diverse career paths.

It will be followed by a networking lunch.

Date: Monday 15 September
Time: 10.30am to 2pm
Location: SLB/005
