Making a claim

In the event of an accident or incident:

• do not admit liability, apologise or offer payment
• note the time and date of accident
• exchange contact information with any third party: names, addresses and telephone numbers, vehicle information including make, model and registration number
• if possible photograph the damage.
• exchange insurance information: Our insurance company's name and policy number are available from insurance-enquiries@york.ac.uk (only to be provided to someone with reasonable grounds for asking)
• exchange contact information with any witnesses: names, addresses and telephone numbers
• complete an accident/incident report as soon as possible for health and safety purposes.

Where damage has been sustained to a hire vehicle

Contact the hire company.

Motor policy excess

The University of York Motor Policy covers all vehicles that are owned, leased or hired for a period over three months. Cover is on a comprehensive basis.

The excess on the University Motor Insurance Policy is £750 including windscreen damage.
