Postgraduates Who Teach (PGWT) are required for the following first year
Sociology modules running in the Autumn term 2013:
To start teaching week commencing 7th October 2013 until week commencing 25th November 2013, plus marking associated coursework (submitted by students on 4th December 2013) to be completed and returned to module convenors no later than 16th December 2013. PGWT may also be required to attend department meetings, which may include module-specific briefings and in-house training sessions.
To contribute to undergraduate student learning, to undertake teaching activities and associated marking, this includes developing seminar programmes, and providing appropriate guidance and feedback as required.
All PGWT employed to undertake paid teaching must have completed the mandatory training outlined in the University Policy for PGWT or be booked in to take it in October 2013: http://www.york.ac.uk/admin/hr/resources/policy/postgraduates-who-teach.htm#1
As a minimum, all PGWT must have completed either the ‘Introduction to Learning and Teaching’ course or the PGWT Residential provided by the Researcher Development Team (RDT). For further information on the mandatory training:http://www.york.ac.uk/admin/hr/researcher-development/pgwt/
In addition to the above, PGWT may be required to undertake department-and subject-specific training. Note that all training is obligatory, and that time spent undertaking training does not count towards the contact hours.

£21.24 per hour (Comprehensive Hourly Rate Level 1) for seminar teaching
