Jobcentre Plus Advisory Workshop

Merran Toerian has recently facilitated a two day workshop with Annie Irvine and Professor Paul Drew for Jobcentre practitioners. The workshop was developed from the findings of their research project looking at the interactions between advisers and claimants and how these could be improved in order to get more positive results for job seekers.
The idea behind the workshop was to create space for reflective practice for expert practitioners to assess how they manage work-focused interviews. Real-life audio visual clips were used to help advisers consider how to manage certain contingencies, situations and difficulties in combinations with large and small group work to stimulate ideas about how to handle interviews effectively.
The workshop is pilot which may be developed and used by DWP as part of their continuing professional development to Jobcentre Plus advisers.
