York researcher wins silver

Participants of Aikido from all over the world gathered at the historic Kyubutokuden dojo, Kyoto, for the 8th International Aikido Tournament on 20th September 2009.

Danielle Jones has practiced Aikido for twenty years and has been a member of the British National Team for nine years, having won many awards including becoming the youngest ever British National Champion, then subsequently retaining the title over six years, European Champion and Women’s World Champion of Champions.

Danielle travelled as part of the GB National Squad to compete in the International tournament in Japan and gained a silver medal in the Women’s Team Randori (fighting) event. Danielle, who is also the co-manager of the GB National Team, led the team to its greatest success in Japan - winning one gold, one silver and three bronze medals altogether.
