David Efird Masters Scholarship 2025-2026

The scholarship is aimed at masters students pursuing research in the field of philosophy of religion, or research on contemporary issues or themes using a philosophy of religion perspective. The Scholarship is generously funded by the family of Dr David Efird, who taught at York from 2002 until his sudden death in 2020.
To be considered for the scholarship, you must be holding an offer of a place on the MA in Philosophy or MA Philosophy by Research by:
13 July 2025.
You are not required to apply for the Scholarship separately, but will automatically be considered for it on the basis of your MA application. Candidates for this award must describe their plans to pursue research in analytic theology or the philosophy of religion in their application.
The scholarship is in the form of a £5,000 reduction in fees.
