Speaker(s): Darius Rahimi, Minister-Counsellor (Political Department) at the German Embassy London
Darius Rahimi will speak about the British and German perspectives on the EU and the future of Europe in a world which is dominated by the US and increasingly China. Darius is a trained lawyer and diplomat. He had the rare opportunity to work for two years in the British Diplomatic Service as a German Secondee, thereby covering the last UK Presidency of the EU. Subsequently, he headed the German experts delegation in the E3/EU+3 negotiations with Iran which lead to the Vienna Nuclear Deal (JCPoA) in 2015. Darius is prepared to take a wide variety of questions ranging from life in the diplomatic service and the relevance of foreign language learning to the future of Europe and peace and stability in the Middle East. This talk would be of particular interest to students of Foreign Languages, Politics and International Relations, History or Law, but is open to all.
Location: V/C/109, Vanbrugh College
