Posted on Friday 10 October 2025
The Department of Language and Linguistic Science is delighted to announce that Dr Lauren Harrington has been awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). The fellowship, which began on 1 October 2025, is administered by the White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership (WRDTP).
The highly competitive scheme provides a crucial career development opportunity for researchers in the immediately postdoctoral stage of their careers, enabling them to consolidate their PhD research by developing publications, networks, and professional skills. Dr Harrington was one of only four recipients of this year's award from the WRDTP, an established partnership of the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield, York, Bradford, Hull, Manchester Metropolitan, and Sheffield Hallam.
During the fellowship, Dr Harrington will adapt parts of her doctoral thesis for publication and develop funding bids for larger research projects. A key outcome will be the establishment of an international network dedicated to sharing knowledge and best practice in the field of forensic transcription.
