One of our final-year undergraduate students, Ariana Dubov, has been awarded a commendation in the Spanish section of the University of Warwick Undergraduate Translation Prize 2025 for her translation of an excerpt from Bibiana Candia's Azucre.Una epopeya.

In October 2021, Géraldine Enjelvin, Yumi Nixon and Ulrike Wray (The Kamishibai (紙芝居) team) recruited their first student volunteers via the University’s Handshake platform and introduced them to Kamishibai via master-classes.

Following the storytelling & origami session Géraldine Enjelvin, Yumi Nixon and Ulrike Wray successfully presented for York Cares at the June 2024 edition of York Festival of Ideas, the charity approached them again in September:
The Department of Language and Linguistic Science has ranked highly in the Times and Sunday Times University Guide 2025. It placed 5th for the subject of Linguistics, 10th for French and 9th for Iberian Languages. The ranking recognises the quality of our courses, and the experiences and opportunities they provide to our students.
