Bloomsbury Book Publishing Talk: How to Publish a Book
D/N/104, Derwent College, Campus West, University of York (Map)
Event details
Nick Wolterman, Publisher for International Development, Geography, and Food Studies at Bloomsbury Academic, and head of a team of BA editors covering sociology, anthropology, criminology, environmental studies, and gender and sexuality studies, is coming to give a short, in-person presentation on how to pitch a scholarly book idea to an academic publisher.
Nick will also explain how the peer review and contracting processes work, as well as what to expect on the road to your book’s publication. He’ll offer tips and tricks to remember along the way, and he’ll speak a bit about Bloomsbury Academic’s reputation for foregrounding critical approaches, its division-wide interdisciplinary, UN SDGs-driven strategy, and other sorts of approaches and projects that BA might be particularly interested in.
This talk will be particularly targeted at people who are interested in publishing their first scholarly book, but all are welcome.
There will also be an editorial drop-in session on 4 November in D/N/130. Nick will be there from 10am to 4pm to speak with researchers interested in discussing potential books or book series projects they think might find a good home at Bloomsbury Academic. Nick is also happy to talk about the sorts of approaches and projects he is actively seeking out, or forms of collaboration other than books and book series, or anything else relevant to his role with BA.
