Yoga
Free Yoga Classes for Arts and Humanities Staff and Postgraduate Students! All year round (including vacation time!)
Yoga Wake-Up
- When: Wednesdays, 8.15am to 9am
- Where: H/G21, Heslington Hall
Yoga builds the body's flexibility, strength, and balance, while simultaneously relaxing the mind. Whether you are new to yoga, have taken a break, are dealing with an injury or a health issue that you think yoga could help with, or maybe you would just like to incorporate some movement into your week, join us at Yoga Wake-up!
Mindful Yoga
- When: Fridays, 8.15am to 9am
- Where: H/G21, Heslington Hall
At this session, a qualified yoga instructor, will lead you through a combination of yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and breathwork to help you relax and relieve any tension that has developed over the week. Our instructor is able to adapt these sessions to your ability and also what you feel your body needs (restorative, energising, etc.), so please do feel free to share your intentions at the beginning.
What to bring
- a yoga mat (we have a few spares but not enough to go around)
- your own water bottle
- wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move - there's no need to go and buy all new yoga-attire, jogging bottoms or shorts will do!
Both sessions are suited to all genders, ages, and abilities, so... What's stopping you?!
- Get to know our wonderful instructor, Gillian Shippey.
The Humanities Research Centre (HRC) has been running these sessions for over two years now, and they are loved and appreciated by everyone who attends. Our intention is to continue developing and diversifying our community by bringing students and all staff, from all Arts and Humanities departments, together in one space. If you are interested in attending either of those sessions, please email hrc-admin@york.ac.uk.
