In this masterclass, Professor Arlene Holmes-Henderson will explain routes into policy engagement, and the benefits of sharing academic research with policymakers in government, parliament and the devolved nations. This will be a practical and interactive session, with the opportunity to ask questions and design a strategy for getting started.

This session is open to members of staff in the Arts and Humanities Faculty. No prior experience of policy engagement is required.

About the speaker

Professor Arlene Holmes-Henderson

Professor Arlene Holmes-Henderson is Professor of Classics Education and Public Policy at Durham University where she is also Director of Impact. As an expert in Classics outreach and knowledge exchange, she engages diverse stakeholders to explore ways to widen access to the study of the classical world.

Working at the intersection of research, policy and practice, Arlene collaborates closely with policymakers in government and parliament on issues across the Humanities and Education. She chairs an expert panel at the Department for Education and is expert advisor to three All-Party Parliamentary Groups in parliament.
