Former Head of Department Mark Hallett Appointed Director of The Courtauld

Congratulations to Mark Hallett, our former colleague (1994-2012) and Head of Department (2007-12), who has been appointed Märit Rausing Director of The Courtauld Institute of Art.

Mark's research and leadership played a crucial role in establishing the Department of History of Art at York and in creating its distinctive ethos. Since leaving York, Mark has served with distinction as Director of the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art. All of his York colleagues and students join in wishing Mark well at The Courtauld which we know will flourish under his leadership.
