Michael presented his paper 'Piet Mondrian's Abstract Coloured Environment: Studio, Space and Painting' as part of a week of activities. This was a follow up visit for Michael, who flew to China in April of last year, spending 3 weeks in Beijing, Kaifeng and Hangzhou meeting students, academics, and museum directors and curators in order to get a fuller understanding of History of Art in China.

Michael again met with Professor Ding Ning of Peking University who has visited the University of York twice, accompanying the Peking Summer School last year.

Michael is an Honorary Visiting Professor of Peking University.
