Major New Publication on the History of Art Portal

Jeanne Nuechterlein's learned and wide-ranging 27,000 word 'article', 'From Medieval to Modern: Gold and the Value of Representation in Early Netherlandish Painting' has just been published on the History of Art Portal

The piece, developed over many years, perhaps represents a new genre for art writing, in falling midway between a typical journal article and book, and its digital publication has enabled Jeanne to incorporate far more material, both in terms of primary evidence and illustrations, than would be possible in most journals. The digital publication of this piece also includes zoom technology, so that the significance of particular lighting circumstances can be much better appreciated.
