New Postgraduate Funding Opportunities

The History of Art Department is delighted to announce a range of new postgraduate awards, offering funding for new overseas and EU students, as well as new specialist opportunities to work in partnership with local museums.

The deadline for all of the following studentships is 30 April 2011.

The application process for each competition is detailed on the Postgraduate Funding pages.

At PhD Level:

  • Overseas Doctoral Studentship. This offers:
    • A partial fee waiver in the first year totalling £4,400.
    • The award will be renewable for up to two further years of registration, subject to satisfactory progress.

  • EU Doctoral Studentship. This offers:
    • A partial fee waiver in the first year totalling £1,000.
    • The award will be renewable for up to two further years of registration, subject to satisfactory progress.

At MA Level:

  • Overseas Studentship. This offers:
    • A partial fee-waiver totalling £5,000.

  • Friends of York Art Gallery Research Studentship. This offers:
    • Tuition fees equivalent to those for Home students (£4,200), but open to all applicants.
    • Part-time work at York Art Gallery between 1 October 2011 and 30 September 2012.
    • A dissertation on a topic to be agreed with the York Art Gallery.

  • Yorkshire Museum Studentship. This offers:
    • Tuition fees equivalent to those for Home students (£4,200), but open to all applicants.
    • An opportunity to work on an exhibition project at the Yorkshire Museum.
    • A dissertation on a medieval sculpture topic to be agreed with the Yorkshire Museum.
