Colour at the National Gallery

Domine quo vadis, Annibale Carracci c1603, National Gallery

Monday 10 March 2014, 4.30PM

Speaker(s): Caroline Campbell, Curator of Italian Paintings before 1500 and Loans Curator at the National Gallery

In this research seminar, Caroline Campbell will study the translation of abstract concepts into physical reality, albeit the ephemeral one of a temporary exhibition.  Can one attempt to convey such a complex subject as Colour in a six-room exhibition?  She also hopes to address the more philosophical question of why one should even embark on such a perilous enterprise.  Why do such exhibitions matter to the discipline of art history?

Admission is free, everyone is welcome.

Location: The Bowland, Berrick Saul Building
