A proud history and future

While the University of York Europe Campus, CITY U.L.E. was officially established in 2025 following licensing by the Greek Ministry of Education, our academic roots run deep.

Beginning in 1989 in Thessaloniki, CITY U.L.E. (then known as CITY College) forged a strong reputation for academic excellence in the region. In 1992, CITY College began a close partnership with the University of Sheffield, becoming its International Faculty in 2009. In 2020, CITY was granted International Campus status by the University of York, marking a new chapter in its development and leading to the establishment of a European university campus of York.

The 2025-2030 strategy sets the direction for the future of the University of York Europe Campus.
