Event details
We believe in the power of enterprise and entrepreneurship to be a driver for social change to deliver better economic and social outcomes for everyone.
Join us for a very special event, organised by the Universities of York and York St. John, celebrating social enterprises, not-for-profits and community interest companies and their invaluable role in our communities, shining a light on them as beacons of inclusion and opportunity while reimagining their role in supporting the region, socially and economically.
Social organisations are powerhouses of social good and community engagement. The sector in the UK is more diverse than the for-profit sector, with almost half of the social enterprise start-ups led by women and 21% with BAME leaders. Given this expertise, the support for this sector is comparatively limited and we are seeking to establish new support, partnerships and learning opportunities for these organisations, business support functions and the private sector to learn from each other for the benefit of the City and region.
Our day will begin a celebration of the best of our regional social enterprise and community interest company activity, featuring best practice of social inclusion, engagement and innovation. We will bring experts in developing social organisations to provide these organisations with expert advice to empower their own growth, and we welcome representatives from the Ford Family Foundation who are keen to support the scalability, growth and impact of these organisations in York and North Yorkshire, and those run by our university's alumni, with loans, grants and support packages of up to £200k per organisation.
