QS World Rankings by subject 2020

The Department of English and Related Literature has continued to improve its standing among the world's top 25 English departments.

This week the Department confirmed its place among the world's most highly regarded departments for English Language and Literature in the QS World Rankings by subject 2020. The Department is now ranked 6th in the UK and 22nd in the world. Head of Department, Professor Helen Smith, says: 'We're delighted to be celebrating another superb league table result. This latest reflects our standing as the top-ranked UK English department for the number of citations per paper, which is a real testament to the quality and influence our research.'

Published annually since 2011, the QS World rankings highlight the world’s top universities in a range of popular subject areas, covering 48 subjects in 2020.
