Prestigious Honour for Professor Nick Havely

Nick taught in the department from 1971 to 2011. His publications include two important monographs: Dante and the Franciscans: Poverty and the Papacy in the 'Commedia', and Dante's British Public: Readers and Texts from the Fourteenth Cenury to the Present, as well as numerous influential edited collections, translations, chapters and articles. Nick continues to inspire audiences around the world, giving talks at venues including Basel, Bologna, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Krakòw, London, Malta, Manchester, Melbourne, Mumbai, Nancy, Oxford, Pisa, and St Andrews.

Nick's influence continues to be felt in the department, since our students are offered the opportunity to study Dante as part of the Undergraduate degree, and also at MA level. The Department offers its warm congratulations to Professor Havely on this recognition of a prestigious career.
