The Quiet Place Book Club launched

The Department, in partnership with the York Festival of Ideas, has launched a virtual book club, named after the Quiet Place on the University’s Campus West.

The Quiet Place Book Club invites staff, students, graduates, and members of the public to join on Instagram. The first book club read will be announced on Thursday, 1 March 2018.

One book will be announced each month throughout the year, and colleagues in the Department will provide comments and thought-provoking questions to encourage debate and guide shared reading. There will also be posts providing expert reactions to literary news headlines, national events, and seasonal topics. The Book Club books will relate to areas of teaching and research in the Department, across all genres and age-ranges, as well as literary events in the York Festival of Ideas 2018.
