Free pre-show talks for Shakespeare's Rose Theatre

Learn more about Shakespeare's plays in talks accompanying four adventurous productions in York this summer.

The 'pop-up' Shakespeare's Rose Theatre, which has been constructed opposite York’s Clifford’s Tower, will host four Shakespeare plays: MacbethA Midsummer Night’s DreamRomeo and Juliet and Richard III, with a season running until 2nd September. 

Professor Peter Holland (Notre Dame), Professor Tiffany Stern (Oxford), Professor Mark Ormrod (York), Dr Megan Murray-Pepper,Professor Judith Buchanan (York), and Professor Helen Smith (York) will deliver a series of talks and lectures designed to help you understand and enjoy these popular plays.

All events are free to attend by pre-registration.
 
Macbeth, 10 July 2018

3:15–4:15pm: ‘The Language of Macbeth’ – a Shakespeare class given by Professor Judith Buchanan
4:45–5:45pm: ‘Macbeth’s Success’ – a pre-show talk given by Professor Peter Holland, with actor assistance
