Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin: Poetry Reading and In Conversation

Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin is one of the leading Irish poets of today, as well as Professor Emerita at Trinity College, Dublin, specialising in Renaissance Literature, and currently Ireland Professor of Poetry. She has published eight collections of poetry as well as translations from Irish, Roumanian and other languages. Her collections include The Second Voyage (1977), The Magdalene Sermon (1989), The Brazen Serpent (1994), The Girl Who Married a Reindeer (2001), The Sun-Fish (2009) and The Boys of Bluehill (2015). Her Selected Poems was published by Faber in 2009. 

 

Ní Chuilleanáin is a pioneering Irish poet, who speaks of ‘an awareness of foreignness as a sea we are always starting to climb ashore from.’ She has been hugely influential figure for Irish women poets, and has a voice and vision unlike any other, producing poems that are earthed in the everyday but remap the borders between the natural and legendary, the historical and supernatural, the self and world in the most exhilarating and inventive ways.
