Rare Book School coming to York!

The Department of English and Related Literature and Thin Ice Press: York Centre for Print are delighted to announce that Rare Book School is coming to York.
Rare Book School, located at the University of Virginia, runs world-famous classes on the global history of printing and the material text and will be offering two courses here at York from 12 to 17 July 2026 taught by members of the University of York.
Professor Jennie Batchelor will be teaching “The Rise of Periodical Print Culture, 1700–1830” and Professor Helen Smith, with printer Nick Gill, will be teaching “The Culture & Craft of Wood Type.”
It is recommended to apply by 17 February 2026, but applications are accepted after this date. For more information, and to submit an application, visit the Rare Book School website.
