Abstract: In this paper we explore the application of Neyman’s smooth tests to the problem of testing for homogeneity in finite mixture model, with particular attention paid to a mixture of Poisson models. Early indications are that they offer good size and power properties in such models. This remains work in progress and is not to be quoted without the author’s permission.
