Our students

Distance learning students graduating at the University of York

Students on our online and distance learning courses are truly diverse, studying in more than 70 countries from across the globe.

There is no typical student, but the majority are mature, are working in professional jobs, and are having to balance their studies not only with work commitments but also with family life. The experience and expertise that students bring to their courses helps to enrich the experience for everyone.

I was particularly attracted by the fact that I
could follow my studies at my very own pace,
combining it with my everyday responsibilities.

Papaioannou Soultana.
MA Teaching English to Young Learners

Student Quote: What I didn't realise, until I started studying, was the huge influence the various York Health Economics groups have had - and continue to have - on the development of thinking in this relatively new specialisation... - Dr Liz Morrell, MSc in Economic Evaluation for Health Technology Assessment

Student Quote: I secured a full-time permanent consultant in a public health position following completion of the programme. I suspect the PG Cert played a part in tipping the selection in my favour and this qualification is something I wear with pride - Dr Anjan Ghosh, PG Certificate in Health Economics for Health Care Professionals

The breadth of conversation and diversity of
experiences from people dealing with policy issues
across the world was incredibly enlightening.

Rachel Foley.
MA Public Policy and Management.

Student Quote: The course has been pretty good for me as I've just secured a promotion in a completely different role in the NHS! - Sarah Lovell, PG Certificate in Health Economics for Health Care Professionals
