Biography
Ruth is an applied health researcher at CRD with expertise in evidence synthesis. Her main interest lies within child health and public involvement in research. Her doctoral fellowship funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) investigated Bayesian methods for addressing sparse evidence in children and their application within the field of paediatric oncology to improve supportive care interventions for children receiving chemotherapy. She continues to develop within this field in collaboration with the Candlelighters Supportive Care Research Centre.
Prior to this, Ruth completed an NIHR pre-doctoral fellowship with training in multilevel modelling and Bayesian Network Meta-analysis and a two-year NIHR-funded training fellowship in systematic review and individual participant data synthesis. Outside her research in child health, Ruth uses her methodological expertise to contribute to the NIHR Health Technology Assessment Programme, critically appraising evidence from pharmaceutical companies who seek approval for the use of their interventions within the NHS.
