Biography
Noortje has a background in evidence synthesis, mental health research, and public health. As part of her work on NICE health technology appraisals, she assesses evidence on the efficacy and safety of new medical interventions for the NHS.
During and after her PhD Noortje studied social and ethnic inequalities in health working with the Born in Bradford cohort, and she helped to set up a cohort designed to evaluate public health interventions. Her first role at CRD was the conduct and project management of systematic reviews as part of the Cochrane Common Mental Disorders group.
Noortje is interested in applying a health equalities perspective to reviews and dissemination in the field of mental health, answering questions around the wider social determinants of mental health, equal opportunities for prevention, access to mental health, and equity in the effectiveness of interventions.
