Profile
Biography
Ash is a Senior Research Fellow in Health Economics in CRD. Prior to joining CRD in 2026, he worked for over a decade as a consultant in health economics and medical statistics. His research focuses on economic evaluation methods and applications, particularly in the area of survival extrapolation for health technology assessment (HTA) which was the subject of his PhD undertaken at SCHARR, University of Sheffield. As a member of the York Technology Assessment Group, and having previously been an Associate of the University of Exeter working with the PenTAG team, Ash has contributed extensively to NICE's technology appraisal programmes.
In addition to survival analysis for HTA, Ash’s other research interests include the role of sensitivity analysis in decision analytic modelling, and efforts to help bridge the gap between the fields of health economics and medical statistics more broadly. He is lead of the training sub-team for the European Federation of Statisticians in the Pharmaceutical Industry (EFSPI) HTA special interest group.
