New students: Welcome

Before you arrive

We will email all our new students with information to help prepare you for the start of term. These will be sent to your university of York email account so keep an eye out for them!  If you miss the emails not to worry, you will be able to view them below:

When should I arrive?

Check out our Arrivals page for information on getting to Goodricke.

What can I expect in my first week?

During your first week or two there will be a number of orientations sessions, or events, that you should go to in order to get the most out of University and your College. Some of these things are mandatory and some are optional. Check out our events page for details.

Goodricke College, JCRC and the Student Assocation will be running lots of fun events and activities through the first few weeks (and beyond) to help you make friends and get to know the campus and the city.

The Second and Third Year Contacts (STYCs) are there to guide you through Freshers' Week. Each flat is allocated two or three STYCs, and each block is allocated two Head STYCs. They will help you move your belongings into your flat, take you to day activities and evening club events, and generally make sure you have a great time. STYCs are easily identifiable with their STYC T-shirts.

Who are my College Team?

During your arrivals weekend you'll meet members of the College Team. All are here to help you settle into the University way of life, if you have any questions or concerns speak to a member of the College Team.
