Mindful of the principles of "benign by design" we seek to avoid known current issues, and avoid future inadvertent consequences from the processes and products we are creating.

We have a track record of working with academic and  industrial partners to design biodegradable polymers, and for polymers designed to go down the drain, exploring their impact in anaerobic digesters. We are interested in designing future products such that their component parts might be easily recycled and reused, but we are aware we are still dealing with a legacy of products that were not designed with this in mind.

As such we also have projects based on the recovery of valuable and/or harmful components from the environment, including phytoremediation projects for recovery of metals, and the R2LiB project for recovery of polyvinylidenefluoride from Lithium batteries aiding the recycling of this promising technology.
