Beyond Compliance Consortium Impact Café: Insights on Child and Youth Participation
Event details
The Beyond Compliance Consortium is hosting a conversation on the meaningful participation of children in strategies to mitigate armed conflict-related harm, including considerations for child participation in global policy fora, advocacy initiatives, and research.
Laya Mosto, Advocacy and Policy Officer at Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict, Sophie Bray-Watkins, Senior Youth Advocacy and Engagement Adviser for War Child Alliance, and Dr. Siobhan O’Neil, Head of the UN’s Managing Exits from Armed Conflict Project, will share reflections on authentic engagement of children and avoiding tokenism, lessons for children and youth-led advocacy such as War Child’s VoiceMore initiative, and considerations for the inclusion of children in participatory research. This conversation aims to spotlight the distinct lived experiences of children in situations of armed conflict and how children’s voices can support efforts to strengthen compliance and restraint in their own communities and globally.
