Visits

Open days

If you are thinking of applying for one of our undergraduate courses, you may find it helpful to attend one of the pre-application University Open Days. Staff and current students will be on hand to offer information and answer questions about admissions, courses and student life. You can visit the department, attend a talk about studying Biology at York, obtain information about our courses, and have a tour of the teaching and research facilities. You will also be able to find out more about the University in general, look around the campus at leisure, and join tours of student residences. Members of your family are also welcome to come with you, and join in the events.

The University Open Days run from 9.30am to 4pm, and are usually held at least twice a year in July and September. Booking is essential.

Individual visits

If you are unable to come to an Open Day, we are able to organise individual visits to the department.

During many of the school holidays the university runs Campus Tours, and where possible we like to combine these with Departmental visits.

Individual visit request

If you would like to arrange a visit to the Department independently, please contact us and suggest a couple of days when you are available to visit us.

Once we've made you an offer

Once you have received an offer, we will invite you to attend one of our departmental visit days, which take place between January and April. We strongly recommend that you attend one of these, especially if you have not visited us on a pre-application Open Day. If you cannot come on the days we offer, we will do our best to arrange for you to visit on an alternative occasion.

During our visit days, you will have the opportunity to see the department and its facilities, meet staff and current students, and look around the campus, including a visit to student accommodation. You will have plenty of chances to ask any questions about the course and the department, and about what it is like to be a student at York.
