Event details

Join us on Saturday 10th June at 3pm to celebrate the 15th anniversary of York Law School in the Law School. The event is free but we ask you to book a ticket.

We will start with a celebration of all things PBL, with Alumni exploring how PBL and Legal Skills modules have been relevant in practice – whether as lawyers or in other jobs. Staff will also talk about how and why PBL was chosen, and the ups and downs of learning this way.

But mostly we will just celebrate YLS with a lovely tea and bubbly (with and without alcohol)!

All alumni are welcome, and the event is free to attend, but any donations to support the York Opportunity Scholarships will be hugely welcome. In particular it would be great to support our project with York Unlimited helping young people from York's Gypsy Traveller Communities to succeed at further education.

As part of our celebrations we have also teamed up with York Festival of Ideas to sponsor a talk by Nazir Afzal, former Chief Prosecutor. Join us for insights into Nazir’s career and the UK’s relationship with race and power, taking place on Sunday June 11th at 12.45 pm in the Piazza Building, East Campus.

On the same day the Morrell Centre for Legal and Political Philosophy have created a range of talks under the banner: 'Reimagining Our Criminal Justice System' in the Ron Cooke Hub.

Tickets for any of the free talks can be booked at the York Festival of Ideas website.
