Join us online this World Environment Day for the latest in our series of Panel Discussion events, focusing on the theme of sustainability and ocean health. We welcome speakers from diverse backgrounds to share their insights and experience. This is an opportunity to quiz our prestigious panel and join the discussion.

Chairing the event is Dr Bryce Stewart - marine ecologist, fisheries biologist, Senior Lecturer at the University of York and contributor to the recent marine conservation film 'Catch 22'.

Speakers:

Estelle Praet - PhD researcher at the University of York investigating plastic pollution in the Galapagos using an archaeological framework; and UKRI intern at the Royal Society on the Ocean and Marine Science Policy Programme.

Mahmoud Mohieldin - Economist; UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for Egypt; Executive Director at the IMF; UN Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda; former Minister of Investment of Egypt; served as the World Bank Group Senior Vice President for the 2030 Development Agenda, UN Relations and Partnerships; and alumnus.

Hannah Rudd - Marine scientist, environmental campaigner and alumna. Hannah has been featured across major media outlets as an independent expert, including BBC networks, and is a published author (Britain's Living Seas, Bloomsbury 2023) and television presenter (Discovery Channel, 2022).

This event is free to attend but any donations to support the York Opportunity Scholarships will be hugely welcome.
