Posted on Thursday 19 June 2025
The University of York’s annual Green Impact Awards took place last week, recognising and celebrating the incredible efforts of staff and students who are driving sustainability forward across campus.
This year’s programme saw 28 teams awarded for their achievements, including 2 Bronze; 4 Silver; 2 Gold; and 13 Platinum.
A new milestone was introduced in 2025 with the launch of the Diamond Award, honouring teams who have achieved Platinum status for five consecutive years. Congratulations to the first-ever recipients: Green Chemistree, International Pathway College, and Green Careers.
In addition to the core awards, five Special Awards were presented to individuals and teams who have shown exceptional passion and leadership for sustainability. These winners will now be put forward for the upcoming National Green Impact Awards.
The awards also recognised innovation through 12 custom sustainability projects, which received a range of awards (1 Silver, 4 Gold, and 7 Platinum) for their tailored and impactful approaches to environmental action.
Congratulations to all of this year’s award winners and thank you for your continued dedication to creating a more sustainable university community.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be shining a spotlight on some of the sustainability projects led by our Green Impact teams. Stay tuned!
