Event details

Staff, students, local residents, and landowners are invited to attend a drop-in Open Day exploring the University’s Deep Geothermal Energy Project, delivered in partnership with Echo Geo

The open day is an opportunity to:

  • Learn about how deep geothermal energy works and why it matters.
  • For local residents and land owners to ask questions about the seismic surveys planned for September 2025.
  • Understand what the surveys will involve and how they may affect the local area.
  • Discover how staff, students, and the wider public can stay informed and get involved in future stages of the project.

The Hub Café at the venue will be open from 8:30am to 3:30pm, serving a range of food and drinks.

No booking required, come along on the day.

Getting to the event

Our Open Day is taking place in the Ron Cooke Hub atrium, located on Campus East (zone 8 on the Campus Map).

Please note: Kimberlow Lane is currently closed so access to Campus East will need to be made via Field Lane.

Cars and parking

The University is easily accessible from major road links such as the A64 or 1079. Car parking on campus is pay and display, and can be limited. You can find out more about the charges via the University’s webpage.

There are several car parks available on Campus East, including Field Lane (closest to Ron Cooke Hub), Kimberlow Layby, or Kimberlow Lane Car Park.
