Responsibilities

The Director of Estates, Technology and Facilities:

• coordinates the maintenance and development of the physical and digital estate of the University, covering the department's three areas of responsibility: 
  • IT
  • Estates, Operations and Capital Developments
  • Accommodation, Campus and Commercial Services (including Retail, Campus Kitchen, York Sport, Campus Nursery and York Conferences).

About Harvey Dowdy

Prior to joining the University, Harvey spent five years as Director of Estates at the University of Lincoln, which followed a similar period of time as Deputy Director at Durham University.

After studying Mediaeval Archaeology at University College London, Harvey completed an MPhil in Land Management at the University of Reading.

She has spent her career working in the public, private and charity sectors in asset management and capital development. She gained useful experience of working in an HEI in the first instance as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader at the University of Northumbria.

She is both a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

From 2018 to 2022 she sat on the Executive Committee of the Association of University Directors of Estates and is a Trustee of the University Design Quality Forum.

As a volunteer, she has sat on committees overseeing the management of Durham Cathedral and currently holds the position of Lay Canon and Lay Master of the Fabric at Lincoln Cathedral.
