During difficult weather we aim to make it as safe and easy as possible to travel around campus.

Snow clearing and gritting

Between November and March, we operate a snow clearing and gritting service on University grounds. We're informed by 11am each day of the Met Office open road forecast to ensure and start clearing snow and/or gritting on campus at 6am when required to make campus safe for travel.

Full details can be found in our Estates Snow Clearing and Gritting Policy (PDF , 346kb).

Travelling to campus

If you work on campus you can read our adverse weather conditions guidelines. You should discuss any arrangements with your line manager.

Travelling around campus

We aim to make as many pathways across campus as safe as possible to use by clearing and gritting them. Most exposed walkways will be cleared and gritted, and we'll put up signage on pathways if this isn't the case.
