Erasmus grants are available to all students participating in an Erasmus placement, all students need to do to apply for this grant is complete an application available via their e:vision account which will become live in May. As a guide Erasmus students on placement in 2012/13 are currently receiving 370 Euros per month.
Students studying in one of the following countries will receive a one off supplementary allowance of 400 Euros: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey.
Students participating in the Erasmus Programme will continue to pay their tuition fees to the University of York and not to the host university. Students currently paying home/EU fees to York who are studying abroad for a full academic year are currently entitled to a fee waiver for their year on exchange.
Overseas students are not eligible for this fee discount and will continue to pay full fees to the University of York.

If you study abroad you are still entitled to apply to Student Finance England/Scotland/Wales for your student loan. For students entitled to a tuition fee waiver you will find that the tution fee element of your loan is reduced accordingly.
A travel grant is available from Student Finance England to students studying abroad as part of their course. To qualify you should be receiving student finance that depends on your household income, e.g. Maintenance Loan or Maintenance Grant. There are a number of scholarships available to students on exchange as part of our Worldwide Exchange Programme. Before applying please check you meet the eligibility criteria.
The Visiting Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 to support students involved in the exchange student programme between North America and York, UK. It aims, through the generosity of Univeristy of York alumni, to help students realise their international ambitions, and to make the most of the opportunities afforded to them. There are six grants of £1,000 available for students either from York travelling to North America or from North America who come to study at York. Students must be on exchange from/at one of our Worldwide Exchange partners: (University of British Columbia (Okanagan), University of California, Columbia University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - excluding History exchange students, University of Pennsylvania, University of Rochester, Rutgers the State University of New Jersey, York University (Canada))
The Study Abroad Office will notify eligible York students of the application process during the Summer term before they depart.
The Department of History runs a separate, term long exchange with University of Illinois, for which a separate two awards of £500 are available for students in each direction. These are adminstered by the department and further information should be sought from the Departmental Adminstrator.

To be eligible to apply you must have been offered a study abroad or exchange place which is not eligible for an ERASMUS grant.
This round of applications is for students who have a study abroad placement commencing in either September 2013 or January 2014. Your place must be for a minimum of one semester.
The value of each scholarship is £500 and will be paid to the winners once they have arrived and registered at their host university.

James College will sponsor two students going on exchange to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Morningside College. While the exchange is a new endeavour, there are some small funds available for James students taking part in the exchange. The College will sponsor £250 each to two students who want to participate in the exchange. Students successful in their application to study at the University of Hong Kong or the Chinese University of Hong Kong can apply for a Scholarship for Excellence. The Department for Busniess, Innovation and Skills is funding a minimum of ten scholarships for students in England to spend a semester or full year at a university in Hong Kong for the academic year of 2013-2014. Each scholarship is worth up to £4,000. Applicants must be UK passport holders and have a good academic record of 60% or above. The deadline for applications is 8th April 2013.
The National University of Singapore offer the DUO-Singapore Exchange Fellowship for exchange students which you should apply for once selected for the exchange. The award, based on merit, is for an exchange programme with participating European universities in any academic field. Each selected undergraduate student will be awarded 4000 Euros for one semester or one year of exchange, which will include airfare, accommodation, living expenses, etc. The deadline for applications is Friday 15th March 2013.

Home/EU undergraduate students who entered prior to 2012-2013 and undertake a full-year study abroad in 2013-2014 will be subject to a 50% fee waiver for their year on exchange.
Home/EU undergraduate students who entered in 2012-13 and undertake a full-year abroad in 2013-14 will be charged £3,100 (offset by a £1,100 fee waiver or cash bursary. This fee will only apply in 2013/14.

The Confucius Institute Scholarship provides financial aid for students, scholars and Chinese language teachers worldwide to proceed to a Master's degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) in Chinese universities, or study in such majors as Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy.

Our Worldwide University Network partner, the University of Rochester has just announced a scholarship programme for a Masters in Energy and the Environment. Students must focus on areas related to renewable energy, sustainable energy systems, the environment and biodiversity, clean carbon technologies and emission management, energy efficiency, energy storage, the electric vehicle and smart grids.
The scholarship will cover the full cost of enrollment and provide a $25,200 allowance to each recipient. For students that need to fly round-trip across the Atlantic, there is also a travel grant of $1,900. Applicants must be British, Spanish or U.S. citizens.

The BEST scholarships are open to UK passport holders who are currently or, have been within the last five years inclusive, in full-time tertiary education at a UK university or college and who are planning to undertake postgraduate study in either the USA or Canada.
Up to eight scholarships are awarded each year from a fund of $50,000. The individual amounts awarded vary but a typical award is in the region of approximately $5000-$10,000. The sum of $4,000 is available as the Christopher J. Harbour Memorial Scholarship to a candidate looking to do sports-related studies and $2,000 as the John S. Ball Award to a candidate looking to pursue a teaching or geography-related career. At the judging stage, preference is given to those whose proposed study in North America is likely to do most to further transatlantic understanding or to those who are required to go to the US or Canada to do a specific course
The BEST Scholarships are top-up funds, not a prime source of funding and candidates should be actively looking to secure funding from other sources while in the process of applying to BEST. Candidates cannot already be engaged in their course of study in North America at the time of application although they should be looking to apply to courses in their chosen field.

The Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia in the academic year 2013/2014 offers a scholarship of Darmasiswa Programme to foreign students (including students from UK and Ireland) of any major to study in Indonesia for 6 months or 1 year.
The main purpose of the Darmasiswa program is to promote and increase the interest in the language and the culture of Indonesia among the youth of others countries. It has also been designed to provide stronger cultural link and understanding among participated countries.
