I love York because it combines the best of both worlds; there is a lovely homely campus within walking distance of the beautiful city centre. The services on campus mean that you need never leave campus unless the mood strikes you, but for the more adventurous there is plenty more to do in York (and the surrounding area if you've got wanderlust).

The Physics department finds a wonderful balance too; it is large enough to have excellent facilities whilst being small enough to have a friendly, supportive atmosphere. In the experimental course there is ample opportunity for hands-on experiments that confirm the learning in lectures (whilst also being fun). It is a course in which you develop a variety of skills, such as problem solving, rather than just testing your ability at maths or programming.
