OpenPlus

This scheme, in partnership with the Open University, offers a flexible route to a Physics degree for students without the standard entry qualifications. For instance, mature students or students without A-level Maths and Physics or equivalent, etc.

You will spend the first two years studying a selected set of modules with the Open University. This may allow you to combine study with full time employment for example. If you successfully pass the Open University modules, you will be able to enter Year 2 of your chosen Physics degree at York. You then study for a further two (or three) years at the University of York and graduate with a University of York BSc (or MPhys) degree. You can then go on to any professional physics career that you wish, including PhD study, etc.

Entry Requirements

There are no standard entry requirements for this route. Each application is considered on its own merit. You may wish to contact us to discuss your application before applying.

Fees

For the first two years you will be a registered student with the Open University and will pay tuition fees, etc. as applicable to them. Upon transfer to York, you will pay the standard York fees. See the finance page for more details.
