Title: 'Unemplotting Entrepreneurship'
Abstract:
The paper sets out to confront and problematize narrative apprroaches to entrepreneurship. In particular we challenge to emplotting necessary to narrative approaches as a basis for understanding social agency as expressed through entrepreneurship. Drawing on the fields of philosophy and history and using historical sources - an extensive collection of private letters relating to the life and career of an early nineteenth-century English merchant - we will argue for an understanding of the essentially unemplotted experience of life and work. Doing so also requires we reconsider our understanding of the bases from which people take actions in their lives.
